Philips HeartStart XL Defibrillator, at just under 14 lbs., is easily transported throughout the hospital to the site where cardiac care is needed. A manual device with automated external defibrillator capabilities, HeartStart XL enables the first caregiver on the scene, whether an ACLS or BLS clinician, to deliver lifesaving defibrillation therapy.

The M4735A HeartStart XL Defibrillator/Monitor is a lightweight, portable, semi-automatic external defibrillator. It offers two modes of operation for defibrillation:

Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Mode
Manual Mode

Indications for AED Therapy

An AED is to be used in the presence of a suspected cardiac arrest on patients of at least 8 years of age that are:

Unresponsive
Not breathing
Pulseless
Contraindications for AED Therapy

An AED is not to be used on patients that exhibit one or any combination of the following:

Responsiveness
Spontaneous breathing
Palpable pulse
